The midday sun casts sharp shadows on the powerful hulls of boats and yachts moored in dry dock, like a spider web outlining intricate patterns on the surface of the hot pier. Light clouds bring the illusion of coolness, but the air is still thick with heat. The marina is empty – it’s siesta time. The Adriatic coast has its own rhythm, in which life freezes at the peak of the day.
