The painting consists of two parts and is a diptych. The plot is fictitious. The canvases depict a port city raid at the beginning of the 20th century. Accent details of the picture are the old lighthouse and cargo ships of various sizes and displacements standing in the roadstead waiting for their turn and the silhouette of the old city, buried in a lilac haze.
